What is the E-Bike Positive Campaign?
This is a movement by the most influential businesses and individuals within the electric bike space to continue to educate everyone on the benefits of E-Biking. This is a truly accessible way for everyone to travel, commute, carry cargo (whether this be family or business) or participate in sports. It can help you stay healthy, whilst spending more time outside.

There has been some negative press recently around the use of E-Bikes within public spaces. But fear not, an Electric Bike can be ridden anywhere you would normally ride a normal (or non electric bike). Whether this be on the road, on a cycle path, shared-use path, bridleway or byway. An Electric Bike is classified in the same way as a non-electric bike in terms that you do not need tax or insurance to ride (although we always recommend insuring your bike with a specific bicycle insurance provider. So what defines an E-Bike as a UK road legal vehicle? The E-Bike must be pedal assist and will need to cut out at 15.5mph (25kph). It will also need to have a maximum power output of 250watts. This complys with specific EAPC regulation set out by the UK government. Every E-Bike sold by The Electric Bike Shop will comply with these regulations and we will not work on any products that do not comply with EPAC.

We will only sell products that follow our strict internal processes. Our experience shows that providing a customer with knowledge on this subject can alleviate the potential concerns they may have. We believe E-Bike fires come from multiple potential sources, however this is usually attributed to electric bike kits that have been retrofitted to analogue (or non-electric) bikes. Typically, unbranded and purchased from marketplace sites that customers believe they can easily make their traditional bike electrified. This can also be attributed to batteries, battery chargers and motors that are non-compatible with each other, and will not be covered by any warranty by any reputable source.
