While many people view e-cycling as a leisure or sporting activity, for the millions of disabled people in the UK, e-cycles can serve as essential mobility aids. Surveys reveal that three-quarters of disabled cyclists find cycling easier than walking and rely on their cycles for mobility.
E-cycling offers a low-impact form of exercise and a practical mode of transportation, with many e-cycles specifically adapted to accommodate a wide range of disabilities.
Cycling UK, the National Cycling Charity, has been dedicated to developing a network of accessible cycle centers for many years. Recently, they received funding from the Motability Foundation to expand their efforts, helping more people discover the potential of cycling as mobility aids.
The Inclusive Cycling Experience is now available in Greater Manchester and Inverness, offering access to both standard and non-standard cycles for try-out sessions and loans, all free of charge.
James Palser, Inclusive Cycling Experience Programme Manager at Cycling UK, said:
"The Electric Bike Shop has been extremely helpful, making sure we got the right bikes to add to our fleet. Their generous discounts have allowed us to stretch our funding further. We've been impressed by their outstanding customer service, as well as the quick and free delivery. Adding these bikes to our fleet will enable us to help more people experience the freedom that an electrically assisted bike can provide."
